I have started to test and use BitDefender Total Security more than 10 years ago and can say for sure that it was already famous among real users. From year to year the Romanian based company managed to achieve the top positions in comparison with the main competitors by such independent labs like AV-Comparative’s and AV-Test. Eg. one of the latest AV-Comparative’s performance and malware protection test revealed that BitDefender is one of the top performers among such widely known antivirus solutions like Kaspersky, Avast, Sophos, ESET, G DATA, K7, CrowdStrike, VIPRE, Trellix, Cybereason and others. I have found rather mixed users’ reviews but most of them were positive on popular tech forums, social media and review sites. For example, one negative review I just can’t pass by was left on Reddit by user “Error_33_6070”. He said that BitDefender was no capable to detect some old viruses and malware such as “asyncRAT” but most competitor’s antivirus solutions could do it without an issue. The popular portal TrustPilot (https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.bitdefender.com) has 3.6 TrustScore out of 5 for BitDefender. I found it not a bad mark but also not an ideal with more than 65% of excellent score and about 18% bad score. Most users are not satisfied with the customer service, automatic renewals, VPN connection errors, declined refunds and some others. Despite all these unsatisfied customers I noticed that the company replied to almost all negative users’ reviews.
